ESTELLA's Story...
I am Estella and I am a sweet little lady. My foster family calls me Lady Stella. At two years old, I am a bundle of love and energy. I am eager to please and learn. The people I meet on my walks say I am “simply beautiful”. I only weigh 50 pounds and am fully grown so you could say I am a lap dog :-)
Due to an unfortunate circumstance, my owner had to give me up to Lab Rescuers. At the end, I spent almost all of my time outdoors so I have forgotten some of my house manners. With some TLC, I am quickly learning the rules again. I am so sweet that my foster family let me snuggle on the couch with them. My favorite spot is with my head on their lap while they watch tv. After so much alone time, there is no such thing as being too close.

I have lots of good qualities: I rarely bark – even when another dog walks by on the path behind my house. I don’t chew or tear up your stuff. I have done a little bit of counter surfing, but only when I am left alone and bored, but I’m learning not to do that because it makes my foster family unhappy and I SOOO want to please. I am in the process of learning how to walk well on a leash. I like most of the dogs I meet, but, if a dog gets grouchy with me, I stand up for my self.

Sometimes, when I get really excited or nervous, I break into my old bad habits. I am trying to remember not to jump up on people and to not mouth my human loved ones. (I have been known to put a mouth on your arm or leg so I can get your attention). I am learning not to do these things but my foster parents think I shouldn’t be adopted by a family with small ones until I learn better manners. Darn! I really do love kids.

I hate it when I am left behind or alone. I try to let my people know this by crying when they leave. So far, they aren’t catching on. I usually stop in about 10 minutes, but I am happiest when all my people are close. If you will invest a little time and training in me, I will love you and bring joy and happiness to every day of our life together. Will you be my forever family?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

ESTELLA, a San Diego Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
