Hershey's Story...
Meet Hershey

Hershey is as sweet as chocolate, so choosing a name for this chocolate lab mix was easy for his foster mom and dad.

Unfortunately, his rescue story is horrific. His family abandoned him in their backyard after losing their home to foreclosure. For three weeks, he was left to fend for himself without any food or water. He is a survivor and some lucky adoptive family is guaranteed to find love at first sight after they meet him.

Hershey has a calm, submissive personality so he melts the hearts of those who have had the privilege to meet him. He enjoys the company of other dogs, but for the most part, he is a quiet guy who prefers to sleep at your feet - or the couch! He is potty-trained and insists you wait for him to do his business in the backyard out of fear that you may not return to get him.

During a typical workday, he naps and has never had any potty accidents or caused any damage to the house when left unattended.

Based on his eyes, teeth, and random white hairs, it is believed he is approximately 5 years old. He is neutered and vaccinated. The vet gave him a clean bill of health along with a recommendation to help him shed 10 pounds off his 100+ frame. But that didn't surprise his foster family. Afterall, shouldn't a pooch named after chocolate be allowed to carry a few extra pounds? It's just more sweetness for his new owner to hug.

We're learning more about his personality every day but he rarely barks, sits on command, knows how to heel, and LOVES to be brushed.

Let us know if Hershey sounds like a great match for you and we'd be happy to introduce you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hershey, a Phoenix Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
