Otis's Story...
Otis – is a beautiful blond gentleman, about 5 years old, and weighs in at about 60 lbs. He is a fantastic boy and his foster mom doesn’t think that they come much better than him. He is such a sweet medium energy boy and loves attention from his foster family. Otis just likes to be with his people and follows them around, helping with yard work, laying at their feet, watching TV, going for walks, anything, he will be there. Otis is great with dogs of all sizes and he loves to play with his foster brother and sister. He is also extremely good with kids and is very gentle. Otis does bug the family kitty though, but only in a playful way. He knows how to sit, sit pretty, give 5, come and lay down. He is such a smart boy and is also housetrained and crate trained. Otis is on the thin side right now, but with a little TLC and some healthy balanced meals, it won’t take long to get this boy up to a better weight. He would make a wonderful companion for just about any family, single person, or empty nesters. Otis is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations including rabies and micro-chipped. He is also on flea and tick preventative and heartworm preventative. If you would be interested in hearing more about this awesome boy Otis, please indicate him in the notes section of the online application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Otis, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
