Melanie's Story...
Melanie is an adorable little 10lb, approximately 1 year old mix breed. She has a tiny frame with white and black spotted coloring. My first impression was to say she looked like an English Pointer in a body more like a chihuahua. (A miniature pointer if you will) Even the vet had no guess as to what she might be other than to call her "very cute" She is extremely sweet and affectionate with people (definitely a lap dog) and follows you around wherever you go. She is fine with other dogs, but does want to be the dominant female in her home. We feel she would be best in a home with older children.

Melanie came to us from a crowded shelter where she and her sister were picked up as strays. It's hard to believe somebody would have just let this sweet girl go and not come looking for her, but we know there is someone out there who is ready and willing to give her the love and devotion she deserves. Melanie has been vet checked, heartworm tested, vaccinated, dewormed and spayed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Melanie, a Bernardsville Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Bernardsville, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Bernardsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bernardsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bernardsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bernardsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
