Fletcher's Story...
Goffin Cockatoo
Fostered by Darlene of Thonotosassa, FL

Hello Bird fanciers; you have seen people that age so well that they do not look like their age? This is the case with our sweet Goffin's Cockatoo, Fletcher. He is 32 and does not look or act like it, even the vet was very stunned when he went for his annual physical. Because of his age he is very level headed and will be a great addition to your family when you gain his trust. He comes from a background where he was not handled very much and we are working to correct this, his new foster was able to get him to step up and hold him for about a hour on his 1st day in her home. He craves neck scratches and if no one is available to do it, he will take a Popsicle stick and scratch his own neck. All he asks from you is Love and Companionship. Won't you please take the time to read about Goffins and how they will fit into your life, or better yet, because he is not a typical Goffin, please ask us any questions you have about him as we are always happy to answer!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fletcher, a Tampa Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
