Shasta's Story...
Online application at or please email

Shasta is approximately 3-4 years old and believed to be a Malamute Mix. She is very tall and lanky but is a large girl weighing approximately 90-95 pounds.

Shasta has been vet checked, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and will be spayed prior to leaving (currently scheduled).

Shasta has been introduced to other dogs and she seems to prefer male dogs. She does not like to play with the other dogs and prefers to have her own space. If she does not wish to be bothered, she will scold the other dog, but does it very respectfully. Shasta would do best as a single dog or with a male companion. Shasta has also been introduced to cats and she looked at them and ignored them. Shasta would do fine living with cats.

Shasta is very friendly towards everyone she meets. She loves attention and enjoys being scratched all over. She does well with children too, however, due to her size, we recommend ages 7+yrs. Shasta knows several commands and happily performs them for treats -- she does perform without treats, but she is stubborn. She is also not afraid to talk and is very vocal in expressing herself which is typical of her breed. Shasta is kennel trained and believed to be housetrained. Shasta is currently working on leash manners and improving her commands.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shasta, a Watertown Alaskan Malamute/Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Alaskan Malamute/Husky for sale in Watertown, or seeking a Alaskan Malamute/Husky dog from a breeder in Watertown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Watertown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Watertown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Alaskan Malamute/Husky breeders who help with Alaskan Malamute/Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Watertown paves the way for another one to be saved.
