My name is Tommie and I am a very pretty black girl with brown eyes that my foster mother says are “soulful”. I don’t really know what that means, but I think it is a compliment! My name originally was Tommy because when I was first rescued, as a tiny kitten, everyone thought I was a boy. OOPS! I am a very shy girl, and I sometimes worry that I will never find a forever home because I’m so shy. I don’t like to be held but I LOVE to be petted. I’m not really what you call a “lap cat”. I like to sit on the back of the couch when my foster mother works on the computer because I know she will pet me and love on me. But if she tries to pick me up I will run away! I’m sort of a diva because, even though I am very shy I do like attention and I like to be petted, even by people I don’t know. Sometimes, when my foster mother has company, I will sneak out and “present” myself to the guests so they can admire and pet me. They better not try to pick me up though! I love attention but I am not competitive…if there are other cats around I will shrink into the background and not demand attention. I bet I’d be really happy in a home with one other cat…that way I’ll have some company but I won’t have to compete so much for attention. I really want a home of my own, but I know most humans want a kitty that is all lovey dovey and affectionate. I am affectionate in my own way, and I hope that there is someone out there who will accept me for who I am.
