Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This older American Eskimo has been on a chain his entire life. He is one big, filthy matt with a deep indent in his neck. He's got some clouding in his eyes, has already lost of a bit of hearing and yet despite living in isolation with only the protection of a small deck for shelter, he is starting to make eye contact with us, little wags of his tail, eating well and I must tell you it is a true pleasure to watch him settle himself into the big plushy bed. Cats do not appear to be an issue, and we'll see how he does with other dogs over the next few days. Vet visit scheduled for late next week. UPDATE: Seal had testicular cancer, discovered upon neuter, and has a suspicious mass in his colon that needs to be checked every 6 weeks or so. He has some vision but we can notice impairment, and although his urinary infection has been treated and cleared up, he can't hold his pee like younger dogs can. Despite all this, Seal is an excellent companion here, just requires a bit more work. He is kind to the other dogs, loves his cats, rarely barks and enjoys leashwalks. It would be great to find a longterm foster home for him, too, with folks prepared to care for him, weak bladder and all, until it's his natural time.
