Sir William's Story...
SIR WILLIAM OF YORKSHIRE was deemed unfit for adoption by the Kansas Humane Society and had the dreaded blue slash of death on his card. But Sir William had plans of his own. On her trip to pick up another dog Maid Carol walked past his cage and he came up to her, in his regal way, and asked her for forgiveness for what ever sins he had committed. Maid Carol had no room at the inn but took pity on him and on his last day gave him a reprieve and whisked him away to a land far far away where he will find his forever home and live happily ever after. We wish every dog that came into the animal shelter could have this type of ending but alas, we are only a small group of commoners spending our hard earned money and precious time saving as many as we can.....but we can't save them all. Many dogs like Sir William are deemed unadoptable by the Kansas Humane Society and euthanized everyday. We are at a loss as to why we see a very adoptable dog and they don't.
THE REST OF THE STORY: Now Sir William did have bad breath due to a badly needed dental, which is common for little breeds like him. He also likes to talk to you when he is not entirely happy with what you are doing, but then what else would such a regal little dog do when he feels threatened. What a brave little knight he is. In our program he has never tried to hurt anyone but he does feel a bit above the other foster dogs. He imagines his crate is his throne and prances around the house like he owns it. At 5 lbs he is such a delight and Maid Carol made a very good decision to spare his life....even though there was no room at the inn. He has had his dental and is ready to take charge of his new kingdom. He is 3 - 4 years old.
