Pepsi's Story...
Pepsi was in rough shape when he came to the rescue. He was very skinny, and his previous owners were treating his rain rot by putting used motor oil on it. Since it was February, we couldn't just wash him up outside, so he got a trip to the vet where he was introduced to the heated wash rack. It took a few washes with medicated shampoo to get all of the oil out. He came back to the rescue with antibiotics to give him a boost on the path towards health. To handle his weight problem, we started him out with lots of hay and then gradually introduced him to grain. After a couple of months, he was doing much better and we were able to start some training.

He is really friendly and he does well with ground work. He has been saddled with no problems, but we have not tried riding him. He is very sweet and calm, and he will be a nice quiet horse once he is trained. He is looking for a home of his own, and he'd love to meet you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pepsi, a Lyles Quarterhorse was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Quarterhorse for sale in Lyles, or seeking a Quarterhorse from a breeder in Lyles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lyles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lyles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Quarterhorse breeders who help with Quarterhorse rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lyles paves the way for another one to be saved.
