My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CHAI - ID#A020172 My name is CHAI. I am a spayed female, black Domestic Shorthair. The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old. I have been at the shelter since May 20, 2011.Chai had to be given up by her owner and cannot understand what happened to land her in a shelter cage.  She is affectionate and loves being petted and sitting on laps but will complain when left ignored in her cage for too long.  She is vocal about expressing her feelings and responds enthusiastically to human attention and good food.  She doesn't get along with other dogs/cats and would do best in an adult household where she can reclaim her position as the reigning queen

Don't shop, ADOPT! The Pet Project Foundation in partnership with the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter presents HOMEWARD BOUND FOR THE HOLIDAYS! From Nov. 15 to Dec. 15 Dog and Cat adoption fees are only $50, and Rabbits are only $25. The fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and a lifetime of love. Happy Holidays to All!

STARTING THE ADOPTION PROCESS:
You need to be 18 years or older, complete an application http://www.petprojectfoundation.org/catadoption.pdf, and be interviewed. It is strongly recommended that all members of your household interact with the cat to make the best match for everyone, and that the cat you wish to adopt will be an indoor cat. You must be able to verify with your landlord that you may have a pet if you are renting. We reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason. Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting needs to be met. We adopt to the best home, not necessarily the first application turned in.

Applications are only accepted by FAX (949-366-4765), mail or in person. Sorry, no applications through the Internet. The adoption fee for cats is $100, which covers the following: spay or neuter, microchip, current shots, flea treatment if required, "New Owner" folder packed with helpful information, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from a veterinarian on our list.

Please call 949-595-8899 to check if your desired pet is still available or for the status of your application. Shelter Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Sunday: Noon - 3:00 PM. We are CLOSED Mondays. We are very proud of our shelter, it is clean, welcoming, freeway close, and was voted "Best Place to Adopt" by the Orange Coast Magazine!
