My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aphrodite
1 yo Female Classic Face Golden Eyed Persian

Foster mom likes me best! She put so much time and energy into saving my life that I guess she and I just really bonded. I remember when I came to Rescue I was so frightened and sick that I just gave up. I couldn't eat, I just laid in my litter box and gave up on life. But, foster mom didn't give up on me. Even though I kept hearing her telling people she thought I was going to die ... she said it every day for over a week. One day, I raised up my head and asked for more food and foster mom started crying. Why would she cry because I was doing better? Humans are so strange. Anyway .. even as weak as I was, I would roll over for tummy rubs after I was syringe fed. Now, I love to be touched everywhere and I am quite the lap kitty. I would really like to go to a new home soon. I love my foster mom, but she says it will be even better when i have a family of my very own. Right now, I don't look so pretty, but I've been told I'm looking better every day. Please read below for the amazing story of how I came to be in Rescue.

I lived in a home with 80 cats … and some people in Orange County. Can you believe it? EIGHTY! Animal Control was called in because the neighbors could smell us three homes away. The newspaper even wrote about us and called it a “Breeder/Hoarder Situation”. Doesn't sound really good, does it? So, these dudes came along and tagged us, bagged us, and dragged us off to the biggest animal shelter you've ever seen. We were really scared, and hissing and spitting the whole time.

From there, 30 of us made it to safety at a place called Rescue. The shelter wouldn't let the Rescuers put us in our carriers for the trip. They had to stand outside while the shelter staff used nets, and these claw thingies to drag us into our carriers. We were SO scared! Some of us went to Cat House on the Kings in Fresno, where they will be cared for until foster or adoptive homes will come for them. A few of us got lucky and went straight into a foster home. I'm not sure what happened to the rest of my family. All of us got exposed to a nasty virus in the shelter and we got REALLY sick!

I'm so glad I had a great foster mom. She spent an entire month syringe feeding me four times a day. Even when I was trying to kill her, she patiently cared for me. She wasn't always happy with me and even said a few words I'd never heard before, but she kept with it and now she loves us a LOT. Eventually, all of us realized that no one was going to hurt us here, and we really had a pretty good gig. So, we've lightened up and are really starting to enjoy life. We're being a lot nicer to our foster mom these days, and she says she's happy when we call to her when she comes to feed us. Our coats are growing back and you'd hardly even know we'd ever been sick. Looks like we're on our way to becoming healthy, happy, and ready for a new forever home! Just think, a family of our own …
