Grady :o)'s Story...
"Grady" is a beautiful old boy who at 13, was picked up off the streets in the city...probably after being abandoned. Though it is hard to fathom how anyone could have done this to him, nonetheless, he ended up on "death row" at the shelter. Because a kind shelter worker fell in love with him, recognizing his soulful and gentle nature, she could not let him die. She was able to pull him off the euthanasia list in hopes of finding a miracle. Now "Grady" needs a new home asap.
Despite his aging body, he is still a beautiful boy inside and out and is an example of the steadfast and trusting spirit of a companion Labrador. Despite the tragic betrayal that befell him in the twilight of his life, he still has only kisses and love for anyone who will pat him on the head. When we got the plea for help, we took one look at his loving eyes and knew we could not turn away. The day he came out o the shelter, there was magic in his eyes. He loves to take in all the scents of the outdoors, and every breath of fresh air and freedom, Grady smiles a new smile...
Grady has some trouble getting up and down due to arthritis, but at his age, it's just a matter of keeping him comfortable and giving him love...for whatever time he has left on this earth...
We believe that Grady's miracle is out there...with someone who, in the spirit of giving, has a heart full of love, ready to insure that this special companion forgets his tragic past and lives the golden days of his life surrounded by the warmth of a home and the joy of a family who cherishes every moment with him. If you are that special someone, please contact: Kim at (516) 840-0575 on Long Island. Transport is available to an approved home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Grady :o), a Smithtown Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever for sale in Smithtown, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Smithtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smithtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smithtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smithtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
