My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you ever seen such an adorable underbite? This one-year old little cutie had a tough start in life. His family expected their 7-year old child to have total responsibility for him. Consequently, Tinker grew very thin, didn't understand house manners, and eventually nipped the child. Toys are greeted with great exhuberance and Tinker is a wonderful little fetcher. He's not real sure about kitty cats yet - sometimes will ignore and other times chase - but with guidance he is learning. Tinker walks on a retractable leash and thinks car rides are fun! Tinker will go on a walk in any weather or any length (he now walks 3 miles a day!). He is like a farm dog in a lap dog's body. He would be good for someone who likes to walk, or even run short distances. Tinker is independent and doesn't mind doing his own thing while his people do something else. Tinker likes to sit at our feet. He doesn't beg for food, but he learns quickly with treat rewards. He knows how to sit, wait, and go in his crate. Tinker is very quick to pick up on commands. He is very food motivated plus needing to put on weight, so it's easy to do positive rewards for good behavior - and he always gets a treat for pottying outside. Due to his past history, we will not place him with children under 12. Tinker is being fostered in upstate New York and his asking adoption fee is $300.
