Emily's Story...
I am a wonderful 2 to 3 year old black and white tuxedo cat who loves attention from my foster mom. My favorite thing to do is to bite and kick at your hand while you try petting my belly. Sometimes my biting gets a bit hard, and my mom hasn’t been able to break this habit. So she puts her hands under a towel or blanket and lets me bite and kick away. I just love it!
My unfortunate story is that I was found on the streets of West Phila in a neighborhood with many abandoned houses. When found, I was already FELV positive. So now, I have to be kept separate from the other cats in the house because I can be contagious to other cats. Right now I am very healthy and a bit chubby. I eat a healthy diet in order to keep my immune system at its best. Because of the leukemia virus that is now inactive in my system, if I get sick, I could get real sick. So I need to stay healthy and not exposed to other sick cats. I could actually live a very long and healthy life.
I need to be an only cat, or I must live with other FELV positive cats. I can live with dogs, but I haven’t been exposed to them much. My foster mom thinks I can get use to them. I am fine with older kids, but remember, I like to play bite and can get a bit rough with it. I like being held, and love to snuggle in bed. I also love kneading the soft parts of your body, or a soft pillow or blanket. I also sometimes give kisses.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emily, a Jenkintown Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Jenkintown, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Jenkintown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jenkintown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jenkintown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jenkintown paves the way for another one to be saved.
