My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"QUINN" -- is a beautiful, 5-year-old patterned-white sable-tri Border Collie cross (we're guessing with Sheltie).

He was left at the shelter in New York City by his owner who said she would return for him when she found an apartment, but never came back. He had been at the shelter for a month when we rescued him on his last day before being euthanized.

Quinn is neutered, up to date on all his shots, and microchipped. He is on the small size for a Border Collie, weighing around 32 lbs. He is very friendly with people, and greets strangers with great enthusiasm. He gets along well with other dogs, but does guards his resources both from other dogs and people, so we would not place him in a home with children.

Quinn would probably make a terrific flyball or agility dog for someone who is mostly interested in sports for fun, because of his age. He's a very good jumper and can clear a baby gate with no trouble, but he never tries to jump the fence of the yard (which is 4' high).

He knows sit, come, and walks well on a lead, though he probably has not had a lot of training, if any, in his previous life. He's very quiet in the house, and loves to be out in the fenced yard where he runs like the wind and barks at passing strangers - he has a quiet voice, however, not the sharp bark of a Sheltie.

Quinn has no discernable herding ability, and would make a good companion dog for just about anyone, in a household with older kids or no kids at all, or with a retired but still active couple. He'd like it if you would take him with you wherever you go, because he loves to ride in the car.

He is neutered, and up to date on all his shots, crate trained and housetrained. Quinn is being fostered in Maine.

You MUST first fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. As this process can take time, we recommend that you complete these first 2 steps BEFORE inquiring about a specific dog.
