Horton's Info...

Horton's Story...
Horton is a young 7 month old male Shepherd/Lab mix. He truly is the great American mixed-breed dog! He has the standard “dog ear” fence ears that try to stand up, but just can’t quite get there. He's about 40 pounds and somewhere between a medium and large sized frame dog right now. He may grow a little more yet as he reaches adulthood. We claimed Horton from the Austin city dog pound. Horton has an easygoing, happy personality. He enjoys dog toys and is eager to be with other dogs. His innocent personality would make him an excellent choice for a family dog. In our Shelter, Horton resides in a kennel pen for 23 hours a day, so it makes it hard for us to know if he is housetrained or not. He does try to keep his kennel clean, but he does have messes in there on occasion. The adoption fee for Horton is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Horton, a Austin Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog for sale in Austin, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
