My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luke was dumped at the shelter when his family decided that their new baby was more important than Luke. Being a very small dog, Luke is not a child’s pet but rather would make an ideal companion for a single or adult couple. Update: Please see the pictures at the bottom of this post. He now looks adorable!

Luke is a new man! After having him groomed and getting all the matts and painful pulls out of his coat, he has truly come into himself. He now loves to go for walks and is so much livelier. He has a jaunt to his step and a smile on his face. He adores his foster mom and follows her everywhere, lying quietly at her feet while she works. He is enjoying his cuddle time too. Where every step used to be painful for him, he can now run and play and can even jump into the air. He is now enjoying the attentions of family and strangers alike although he is still most confident with his foster mom. He is enjoying playing with the other dogs and when he sees his leash he jumps into the air with excitement.

Luke is very clean in the home and is crate trained but does not need to be in a crate. He is very good about letting you know when he needs to go out and has never had an accident in the home. He can now jump up on the couch to sit beside you and enjoys being held and petted. He loves to sleep in his own little bed besides yours.

Although very low to the ground with his short little legs he is still a good solid little dog weighing 13 lbs. He is approximately 5 – 7 years old and so still has a lot of life and love to share with the right family.

He was in so much pain from all the matting it is no wonder that he was so unhappy with being touched. Now he loves being affectionate and getting affection from everyone. We would still want to see him placed in an adult only home or with children over the age of 12. He is a tiny dog and a real little character but is quiet, well behaved and a true little companion.

Luke’s New Photos – After his groom: Hardly looks like the same dog!!
