My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**COURTESY POST FOR OWNER***

NYSWR makes no representations regarding this dog
Maddision (Maddie) is a 2 y.o. female blue weim looking for a new home.

Maddison is located in Albion, NY.

Her owners write:
"We adopted Madison (Madie) from a friends in-laws. They could not keep her due to new travel and other personal issues. She was not crate trained, had no obedience training, was unlicensed, and infested with worms. She was full grown and weighed in at 59 pounds (currently around 70 lbs). She was spayed at least. She also had had surgery to correct in-growing eyelashes (bi-lateral entropian). Since then, she is free of worms and up to date on shots. We have had her on Interceptor and Advantix. She has graduated from Petsmart obedience school and was crate trained the first week we owned her. She trained herself to the bells on the door for egress purposes.

Now the issues, she was extremely spoiled by her previous owners. She was allowed in the bed from the first night in the house. When she outgrew the bed, the woman moved into the spare bedroom with her. She was bounced between friends, relatives, and kennels to allow for family travel. She is extremely jealous of other animals in residence. She has been exposed to a great variety of dogs through friends and relatives. She plays with them the way Weims play, all out. Other than playtime, Molly (our original Weim) will have nothing to do with her and is continually seeking new places to sleep to maintain distance. She (Maddie) has started to nip at the Sam the cat. There have been NO instances of aggression toward humans, including strangers. She is an early riser. She wants to be out of her crate between 5:30 and 6:00 everyday. She is a digger. She has a strong prey drive that must be satisfied. She will not dig when told to stop. She will find things to dig for when left alone. Her favorite toys are things that are available; logs from the wood pile, shovels, children’s toys, etc…

She is an extremely loving weimie. Her tail is always in motion, and she hangs on your every word. When yelled at she looks abashed and can't wait for forgiveness. She just had a bad start to her life. She really needs to be an only pet. Preferably with an owner in home regularly (part-time or unemployed). We have been toying with the idea of placing her for adoption for over a month. She bit at Sam's (the cat) neck for the second time in a week tonight, and that was the last straw. We do hate to put her through the adoption process again, but her issues are too deep rooted for us with our lifestyle and other pets. We were misled on her personality and condition. We hope that by full disclosure we can help to find her a forever home. She is much happier when she is the only dog also.

I hope we can find her an acceptable home soon. She is a truly loving dog. She needs an experienced Weim owner that has time to spend with her. I believe that with time she will make an excellent pet.

Please contact NYSWR for more info. and I will forward your information to her owners.
