I am already neutered and up to date with shots.
Toffee is one of four puppies from an unwanted litter. They arrived at the Animatch Centre from AMR (see below) because they are overcrowded. If you want to help a puppy grow up to be a good dog, you could consider adopting Toffee. He is full of curiosity and very interested in his surroundings; he would be so grateful if you picked him. Before applying to adopt a puppy, please do a reality check. If you don’t have the time, then please don’t do the crime of adopting a puppy! Firstly, puppies need a home where someone is present during the day; they need attention, socialization, training, and frequent potty breaks sprinkled throughout the day. Secondly, being Lab mixes, Toffee and his littermates will need LOTS of exercise and the amount of exercise needed will increase as they grow into their adolescence. So you must expect to do between 1-2 hours of walking, hiking, running, playing every day – rain or shine (Labs need just as much exercise in the winter). If you don’t keep those brains busy, you will have a bored puppy who could become destructive. Mental stimulation is as important as physical exercise. Third, obedience training classes are a must. Puppies want to learn and please and it is never too early to get them started in obedience training. Don’t forget that the training is as much for the guardian as for their dog. Basic commands help produce a good canine citizen and a well-trained dog is much easier to live with than his untrained peers. Last but not least, the commitment to Toffee must last his lifetime. Remember, pets are forever! Responsibilities are great but the love and friendship you receive in return is priceless. If you are interested in adopting Toffee (and meet all the criteria for adopting a puppy), please fill in the Adoption Form.
AMR is an animal control service that has an open-door policy, meaning that they are obligated to take in all dogs for the various communities they serve. When they are full – as they often are – many dogs that are at risk are transferred to various rescues. If there is no room in the rescues, there is but one alternative. AMR is open to the public and all dogs adopted from them are sterilized, vaccinated, micro chipped. If Animatch does not have the dog that you are looking for, please visit the AMR website http://www.refugeamr.com and consider adopting from them or for that matter any rescue on http://www.petfinder.com. Most importantly, stay out of pet shops and avoid people selling dogs on various websites.
