My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hudson!

Hudson is a 6 year old Lab/Bull Breed mix who weighs around 90lbs.

I have been fostering Hudson for close to a year now. I understand that he has been with the group for over two years. This big lovable lug is way overdue in finding his forever home. Once he knows what your expectations are, he adapts quickly. All he wants to do is please his people.

Inside the house he is the perfect gentleman. My house is small so there is not really room for roughhousing. He loves to play tug of war, etc., activities that do not require a lot of room. However, he is quite content to be a couch potato and just crash out with you. He loves to snuggle and more often than not couch time will find him sharing a pillow with you or having his paw in your hand.

Outside time is another story. If it moves, he wants to chase it; anything from birds, cats or squirrels and, of late, moose. Due to his brute strength, it is recommended that a pinch collar is used when on leash. He knows that with it on that means to gear it down and he responds.

Hudson is a fence climber. It is not that he wants to run away; he just thinks that it is a game for you to chase him. A zip run would work well or, as he has here, a sunken stake with a cable. In fairness to him, this would need to be in a fenced area as to not make him a target for wandering dogs. Other fosters have reported that he does well with some dogs. However, due to his strength (and that of my personal dogs) I have kept him separated. Children make him nervous so we will not adopt him to a home with children. Personally, I feel he would do best as an only pet.

Even with the bitter cold winter that we are having, he does well outside for short periods of time. I will not take him walking in the yard to do his business as in some places I have five foot drifts. I take him out to and attach him to his cable. When he is done with his business, assessing the local activities, and getting some exercise, he waits in his heated house for me to bring him back in. I would be willing to donate a heated dog pad if you provide the dog house.

Mr. Hudson has a home with me until we can connect with the perfect forever home for him. I know that it is out there, we just need to find it. Whoever provides Hudson with this setting will receive more love and devotion than is describable. He is truly a special soul.
