My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sally Mae - Be prepared for Sally Mae to quickly steal your heart. Sally Mae comes from a high kill shelter and as the shelter filled more and more, Sally's time was running out. We couldn't leave this beautiful, sweet-natured girl behind. She is about 1-2 years old and about 50 lb chocolate colored retriever/spaniel mix and is an AMAZING girl. Sally Mae knows her sit command and is wonderful on a leash! She loves the kids in her foster home (ages 4-14) and is very gentle with them. She quickly warmed her way into her foster family's hearts and has already made a spot for herself on the bed or couch, wherever she can snuggle with her people. It appears to her foster family, though, that she had been trained to stay off furniture. Sally is an obedient, laid back, medium energy type of girl. She gets along great with the foster family's other foster dogs, family dogs, the cat, rabbit, and has some interest in their bird (she's curious about the bird's constant gibberish). Sally is a VERY tolerant girl as she has an amazing amount of patience. Plus, if you don't like having company while you are brushing your teeth, Sally will need to work on giving you space. She likes to lean on the counter and watch herself in the mirror. She also likes to join you when you're washing dishes. Sally is such a treat, with a truly delightful personality. It's hard to believe someone could abandon her, and now it's her turn to know love forever, don't you think?
Sally Mae is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations including rabies and micro-chipped. She is also on flea and tick preventative and heartworm preventative. If you would be interested in hearing more about Sallie Mae, please indicate her in the notes section of the online application. She is a very special girl.
