Special Needs Dog. Yakone is a GORGEOUS red male husky with blue eyes, approximately 3 years old. Yakone tested positive for heartworm when he came into rescue and has been successfully treated and is now on monthly heartworm preventative. He has been diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus, a rare condition (this is NOT the same as sugar Diabetes). This means that he is unable to concentrate his urine and requires shots each day to prevent the water from running right through him. This is a manageable disease and the shots are administered easily just under the skin with a tiny needle. This medicine will probably need to be administered to him twice daily for the rest of his life so we are listing him as a special needs dog. The medicine will cost approximately $30 each month. If you are ready to make a lifelong commitment to Yakone or are interested in fostering this beautiful boy, please submit your application.
