Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Pepperoni lost her home when her family lost their home and she is adjusting well to her new adult foster home. She is almost four years old and she is about two pounds overweight at 14 pounds. Because being overweight can cause back trouble in doxies, she is on a diet to help her trim up. Pepperoni absolutely loves attention from her foster parents and wants to sit beside them or she will sit quietly near them. She loves to run in the yard and stays right with her foster mom even without a leash. Pepperoni gets along well with other dogs and she loves cats! She sleeps in a kennel at night and is dependably house trained when let out on a schedule. Pepperoni will enjoy a home with some around much of the time and is totally delighted when her fosters return home. She jumps and runs around with such happiness. Pepperoni does not bark much and walks well on a leash. She comes when called by her name. Pepperoni is with a 501c3 rescue. She came with no vetting so her $300 adoption fee is to cover her full veterinary care which includes her spay, heartworm test and pill, shots, worming, flea/tick prevention and a HomeAgain microchip. She is currently on an antibiotic for Lyme disease which should clear it up within 30 days.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
