Sheila's Story...
Sheila is a bit of an odd ball - a big, gorgeous, black and white odd ball. She is, by nature, very affectionate and playful but she usually reserves the right to take her time to get to know you before she will commit herself to showing you just how much.

I guess you'd call Sheila a cat with cat-i-tude. She is definitely a cat lovers cat.

Sheila is around 3 or 4 years old so I suppose she's had her trials along the way which have made her a bit cautious about displaying her affections right away. She will also hiss at her tail for no apparent reason and growl softly to herself when she gets bored. Aside from her little quirks, Sheila is one terrific cat! When she does finally decide she likes you it is full speed ahead. She is right there purring and head butting in your face and wanting all the affection you can give to her. She is very playful for such a full-figured girl and adores her catnip mouse. She will make some lucky person a wonderful companion, quirks and all.

Sheila is spayed, litterbox trained, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

About Our Rescue Group...
Officially, Stray Cat Blues, Inc. is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing rescue and placement to stray, abandoned, and feral cats. Personally, SCB is a small group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to find loving, life-long homes for cats. We are professional in our practices, but we are emotional on the subject of homeless cats, and the ways in which we humans can work to prevent this epidemic of strays.

Stray Cat Blues actively works to find permanent homes for the stray cats in our program. Our kittens and cats are exposed to the pet-loving public at our different adoption locations (see Come Meet our Pets section below) to facilitate adoptions and to provide visibility for our organization. Our cats can also be seen online at www.adoptapet.com.

Most of our cats offered for adoption are strays and their offspring that are rescued off the streets.

For those stray cats that are more wary of humans, especially feral cats, we can help humanely trap, sterilize and either return them if the area they live in is safe and they are being fed, or we house them and adopt them out as barn cats.

Our Adoption Process...
We require an application with vet references or a home visit. All the animals are screened for feline leukemia and FIV, inoculated, sterilized and wormed when they first come to us. Healthy, adoptable cats and kittens are then housed through our network of foster homes. Our adoption fee is only $85.

If you are interested in adopting a cat, you can find our online adoption application at our website - www.straycatblues.org. At the top of the page in the middle you will see a link for House Cat Adoption Application. Click on this link, fill out this short form, and be sure to click Submit at the bottom. One of our Adoption Reps will then contact you within a couple of days to guide you through the adoption process.

Alternately you can complete a paper application at Petsmart when we have SCB volunteers present (see times for adoption showings). Questions - email us at: savingstrays@yahoo.com. We are happy to answer general questions, and also put you in touch with the foster families for questions about specific cats.
