Mocha's Story...
Meet Mocha!

Mocha is a 8 to 9 month old husky pup. She is the last of the Montana Creek puppies and she is looking for her forever home! She can be a little shy at first but warms up very quickly. Mocha does great with other dogs and is good around kids.

*Update*
Mocha is the sweetest dog ever! She loves to cuddle and give kisses, will take any opportunity to put her face on your lap or arm and stare at you with her gorgeous brown eyes! She loves to chew on things but is easily re-directed. She can spend hours completely mellow, on the floor, working on a bone or toy. She is housebroken but doesn't give you any cues; for the most part, you have to either let her out at a set schedule or give her regular access to the outside. She knows sit on command and hardly howls for a husky mix. Goes into her kennel without problem and is comfortable in there while you are at work. Needs some training on the leash but is getting better day by day. We haven't tried off-leash but we're pretty sure that if you give her enough time to bond with you she would make a great jogging/hiking companion.

She does have a doggy version of Pica (not diagnosed, just observed) because she will drink and eat ANYTHING so she needs to be kenneled if not in a safe area or supervised. This is not unusual for puppies, and she responds to a "leave it" pretty quickly. But expect to invest time in training her and redirecting her, and don't underestimate her when it comes to what she would put in her mouth!

She is a little shy when around people, probably because she has been bounced around so much from home to home that she hasn't had the chance to develop a bond with her "leader". But she is loyal and loving! She loves our kids (is super gentle with our 18 month old), our dog, and our cat too.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mocha, a Wasilla Alaskan Malamute/Husky puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Alaskan Malamute/Husky for sale in Wasilla, or seeking a Alaskan Malamute/Husky puppy from a breeder in Wasilla.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wasilla already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wasilla breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Alaskan Malamute/Husky breeders who help with Alaskan Malamute/Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wasilla paves the way for another one to be saved.
