OLIVER's Story...
Meet Oliver...This feisty redhead is a one-year-old, 11-lb Australian or Norwich Terrier mix -- smart, charming, spunky, good-natured and very playful. He needs plenty of exercise to expend is high energy level and prevent his getting into mischief. Oliver loves kids and adults and plays well with other dogs. He will do best in a home with a doggie playmate who matches his energy level.

Oliver's story:
Orphaned and living by his wits in the woods near a major thoroughfare, Oliver eluded capture by rescuers for two weeks. His resilient spirit served him to overcome his circumstances to become a charming, good-natured, playful little companion.

His foster mom was first attracted to his blonde Mohawk, and his scrappy yet sweet personality. Agile and alert, Oliver enjoys problem-solving, and likes to play chess...oops! I mean chase...with his foster siblings. In true terrier fashion, he occasionally likes to 'boss' the other dogs around in a good natured way. He is truly a sweetie pie at heart, loves to give kisses and be held and carried like a baby. He learns quickly and will do best with an owner who understands and challenges his high intelligence.

The description fits Oliver to a T: The Australian Terrier is a tough, cheeky little fellow with courage that reminds people of a much larger dog. It has boundless energy and is very loyal, showing great affection for its immediate family. Its extraordinary intelligence makes it a responsive and very protective companion. It is an alert, amusing and loveable little dog. Spirited, curious, and self-assured, it has very keen hearing and eyesight, making an excellent watchdog. It wants to please its master and is more easily obedience trained than most other terriers. This breed is not snappish.

Oliver is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm- and flea-preventative. Please contact Brenda at to obtain an adoption application and schedule a meeting with the little genius, Oliver.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

OLIVER, a Houston Norwich Terrier/Australian Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Norwich Terrier/Australian Terrier for sale in Houston, or seeking a Norwich Terrier/Australian Terrier dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Norwich Terrier/Australian Terrier breeders who help with Norwich Terrier/Australian Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
