Chicky's Story...

Hi! My name is Chicky. I was found in the streets of Detroit, lost and scared. I am a young, spayed female in need of a lifelong home and someone to love. I'm smart and a quick learner. I bond quickly and love my people with everything I have. I listen and I aim to please. I'm learning to walk on a leash and I like to be carried like a baby. I love belly rubs! I'm a sweet dog but I lack confidence and need someone to show me the way. A basic obedience course and lots of love and I'll be good to go. I would like to be an only pet until I'm better socialized with the world. No one ever invested any time with me so I just need love and training to learn how to be a confident gal. I'm a good girl, so give me a chance! Adoption fee: $75.

Adoption and Foster Care Application:

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at the link above or send an email to to tell us which pet you're interested in and we'll send you a questionnaire that will help us make the best match for you and your new pet. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. This is a pending period to give your dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chicky, a Troy Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Troy, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
