Yancy's Story...
Yancy is a sable female ~ 2 years old. She is a very pretty shepherd with delicate features and a feminine face. She's well proportioned, muscular, alert and energetic. Yancy was rescued from animal control in Birmingham on June 17, 2009. It's evident that Yancy was not handled much before she came into rescue. At first she was shy, nervous and was more interested in food than people. But she's learning that there's more to life than kibble. Petting and brushing can be enjoyable, too. Although Yancy really loves her kibble she hasn't shown any signs of food aggression with people or other dogs at dinner time or with treats.

Yancy is in a foster home with 3 big male dogs and a cat. Her foster parents are teaching her manners like not to jump up, walk on the leash, and just to calm down. Like all gsd's she's a fast learner. Obedience classes for Yancy would be a huge plus and she would probably excel in agility given her strength and stamina. Yancy is an energetic dog. She thinks playing ball with the other dogs is fun but chase is her favorite game.

Yancy's prey drive is too high to be adopted into a home with a cat. Her foster parents have tried but Yancy still wants to 'get' the cat.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Yancy, a Pike Road German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Pike Road, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Pike Road.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pike Road already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pike Road breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pike Road paves the way for another one to be saved.
