Joseph's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Joseph's Story...
Joseph is a large purebred male who is five years of age. His former owners lived in an area where they had no fence and Joseph was kept on a chain. They decided to give him up and we were contacted. We brought him in to rescue in April 2011 and discovered he was heartworm positive. Joseph has completed his treatment and is now heartworm free! *Special thanks to Kreg Newman for sponsoring his treatment.

Joseph is a great dog all around! He has been raised with children, cats and other dogs. The reason one of his ears tip over is because he was injured in a dog fight. Several years ago, another dog charged at the child Joseph was in the yard with and he jumped in front of the child, preventing the little boy from being injured. Joseph was bitten in the head by the other dog causing damage to his ear.

Presently Joseph is being fostered in a home with another female shepherd, Heidi. They get along famously. Joseph spends time indoors as well as outdoors. He rides well in the car, too. He is a calm dog for the most part but loves to play with toys also. Adopting an adult dog has many advantages. "What you see is what you get". Personalities are formed so there are no surprises as to what a dog will grow up to be like.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joseph, a Pike Road German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Pike Road, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Pike Road.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pike Road already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pike Road breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pike Road paves the way for another one to be saved.
