Tuki's Story...
TUKI is an adorable tiny Weenie/Rattie mix rescued from a high-kill shelter in Lousiana that gasses their dogs when their "time is up". This shelter is not even open for adoptions, so no one in the world gets to meet these dogs. It's hard to believe Tuki would have just sat there and then been put to sleep, but it's true. We rescued her, but just this week her foster had to return her suddenly and her emergency foster cannot hold onto her because the dog in their home is not good with other dogs. Please help us find her a home...

Tuki is about 11 months old and only weighs 13 lbs. She came into the shelter as a stray. Tuki is such an amazing little sweetheart. She loves to run circles around you and play with her toys, but she will still snuggle up next to you on the couch for a long nap. She LOVES belly rubs and kisses you to show her affection. She's very nice to every dog and person she's met, even small children. She plays a little rough with cats, but when supervised, it should never be an issue. She knows how to sit, come and responds to bed time by laying in her bed in the kitchen. Tuki absolutely loves to run when she goes outside. Tuki is alsoa talker! Likes to bark when she plays or when you make faces at her. Overall, she would suit just about any kind of family without a problem. Very adaptable little girl. Check out our video of her...

If you are also curious about adopting her, fostering for a trial period would be a great way to determine if she might best fit you and your home. If interested in fostering this little munchkin, please email April at muttsandmitts@gmail.com. She has received her vaccination, been dewormed, and is spayed. It is FREE to foster, following the approval of an application and we cover all necessary veterinary care while they are in foster. If interested in Adopting, the process involves an Adoption ap, home visit, reference check and an adoption fee as well as spending some time with the dog you are interested in adopting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tuki, a Buffalo Rat Terrier/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier/Dachshund for sale in Buffalo, or seeking a Rat Terrier/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Buffalo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Buffalo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Buffalo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier/Dachshund breeders who help with Rat Terrier/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Buffalo paves the way for another one to be saved.
