Important Note

Joey is best friends with Nermal. Please adopt both of them so they can stay together!
Joey was a feral kitten that came in with her littermates back in 2005. She will need a home where there won't be a lot of commotion and noise...as she still gets spooked sometimes. She does great with other cats, and does okay with mellow dogs. Since she is a bit timid, a home with older kids would be best. She is currently living in our play room with 5 other cats and she loves it! Joey had spent some time living in our visiting room, and did great with volunteers and visitors. She would be a great choice if you are looking for a companion for your other cats, as she is very quiet and playful, and used to living with multiple cats. Joey is super playful, and enjoys being pet and spending time out on our enclosed cat porch. She has come around really well and greets our visitors with her cute little meow! She is waiting patiently for a forever home...please help her have the chance! She is spayed, up to date on her shots, microchipped and ready to go! Since she has been here for over 5 years, her adoption fees will be waived for the right home. An adoption application is required to adopt. You can find our application on our website, and once you submit it to us (email, fax or postal mail) it will begin the adoption process.

About Tri-Lakes Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

"We speak for those who cannot" has been our shelter's motto since 1973. Since 1942 our members and staff have rescued homeless and unwanted pets, and placed them into new and loving homes.
In 1998, our board of directors voted to become a "no-kill" facility. "No-kill" means we do not euthanize healthy & adoptable animals to make room for new arrivals. In 2001, we moved to our new facility at 255 George Lapan Hwy in Saranac Lake, NY. Since our big move, we have rescued and adopted out over 3000 animals and reunited over 1000 pets with their owners.

We are very involved in our local community, and we have a Humane Education program and we travel to local schools to educate children on proper animal care, the importance of spaying and neutering, and how to be kind to animals.
Our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program provides financial aid to low income pet owners who need help affording the cost of the surgery at local Veterinary Hospitals and Clinics.
We also have a Trap-Neuter-Return program to help local community feral cats.

The Tri-Lakes Humane Society employs an Animal/Dog Control Officer, and contracts with local towns and villages. Our Dog Control Officer is in charge of enforcing the local Dog Control ordinances. From time to time, we also become involved in animal cruelty cases and assist local law enforcement with their investigations.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Applications must be submitted and approved prior to adoption of any animal. You can view our Adoption Policies and application form on our website:
www.trilakeshumanesociety.petfinder.com

Our Adoption Fee for dogs/puppies and cats/kittens is $77, which covers the spay/neuter cost, microchipping and registration, as well as all vaccinations, flea treatment, and wormings.
The Adoption Fees vary if the pet was already spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to arriving at our shelter.
We also have a Seniors for Seniors adoption program. If a person over 60 years of age opts to adopt a pet over the age of 7, all adoption fees are waived.
