My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please help spread the word.

Sophie was LOST on 5/31! She was last seen at SW 146th & 22nd Street SW in BURIEN POTENTIAL RECENT SIGHTINGS (June 6th) right by the woods around 146th & 22nd in Burien AND (June 13th) on Kent-Des Moines Rd by Military Rd AND (June 23rd) 135 S & 32 S by Cascade view Elementray SeaTac/Tukwila AND (june 24th) 15th & E. Harrison in Captol Hill AND (august 1st) near Burien in an area called Top Hat near Victory Outreach Church AND (Aug 22nd) near S 146th and S144th off the Des Moines Memorial Rd by the Mental Care Facility (September 22nd) Des Moines Memorial Dr by Aviation High School AND (Nov. 11th) by Goody Goody Gum Drop in Burien

Sophie is a VERY sweet girl, but VERY scared -- she is also EXTREMELY fast and agile.

She has one cropped ear and is ALL black. She had on a green collar with rescue tags, as well as a red/pink leash that she was wearing at the time she was lost - she is chipped - Approximately 20lbs and knee high.

She will likely run if approached -- so soft tones and kneeling could help to get her to come to you or to not run. PLEASE DO NOT TRY to capture her, but call in sightings IMMEDIATELY

Please call 206-819-2878 or 206-948-3517 with any sightings

Kelsy (trained search dog for the Missing Pet Partnership, who found Charlie the black lab a while back) tracked Sophie down into Seahurst Park on 6/1, but the trail ended in the tidal zone, where, if Sophie walked there at the previous low tide, the scent trail would have been washed away by the high tide. Sophie could be anywhere from Shorewood to Three Tree Point (or further). She likes to hide under things, so if your dog is barking at something under your deck, you might peek under there and see if it's Sophie. If you see her, don't try to chase her - Just call.

She was trailing a leash, but most likely she has chewed it off by now, so you would just see the remnant of the leash hanging from her collar.

Hello, I am Sophie. I am 2 years old and weigh about 19lbs and 16' tall. My foster parents state that I look like a small all black Border Collie or a Terrier/Spitz mix. Despite what I look like, I am most likely a mix of Formosan Mountain Dog and I am gorgeous and smart - (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=27528646434) A little about the Formosan Mountain dog is that we are very loyal, protective, a bit shy, and loving - they make great agility dogs, however I would probably be more of a companion pet than an agility dog. I am a little shy at first, but warm up VERY quickly. I am very loving and a wonderful cuddler. I like to get pets and attention from my fosters and enjoy the other dogs in my foster home. Once I am comfortable I enjoy to play. I have wonderful house manners and am fairly mellow inside. I walk wonderfully on my leash and ride well in the car. I even met a cat and was pretty scared of her, so I should do fine with cats. I am just a wonderful girl with so much to offer my new family. I would love to have a companion and a cuddle buddy. I would do well with or without another dog in the home. I am crate trained and so far have been wonderful on housetraining - I even use the dog door. I am extremely sweet and submissive to my humans. I would do best in a home with another dog to help show me the ropes and build my confidence. I am so happy to have a chance at finding a great forever home. Please consider me as a new member of your family - you won't be disappointed - my foster mom is already in love with me.

FOSTER UPDATE
Sophie is a wonderful companion. She loves attention and is a great cuddler. Sophie loves to watch TV with her fosters and curl up in your lap for belly rubs. Sophie also loves to play. Sophie is a little shy meeting new people in her home, but warms up very quickly. Sophie meets people at the dog park and on walks well. At the dog park she was not as interested to play, but sniff the smells and stay close to her humans. She is a very loyal dog and is very attached to her fosters. She will be a very loyal girl to her new family as well. This little girl is truly a gem and will be a remarkable companion.
