Buddy's Story...
"The Budster" (Buddy)....... Lab /Shepard  10 years young. This young senior is breaking our hearts !  He has been in rescue for almost 3 years and we can't believe that there isn't a person out there for him !  The Budster was one of Keeper's pups - the dog responsible for the formation of Keeper Rescue. He was born in a cemetery and his mom and his siblings were all placed.  Buddy was returned at age 7 due to the family losing their job and having to move into an apartment. Poor Buddy !!  This guy does NOT act his age and at a recent visit to our vet (Dr Elson at Burnt Hills Vet Hospital) for a routine exam and vaccinations, we were told that he was in great shape . Buddy is "quirky" which makes him a fun dog.  He can be stubborn but usually we think we see a "smile" on his face.  Buddy is house trained, walks well on a leash and takes food very gently from your hand. He is not great riding in the car but is much better than when we got him (he's antsy).  Buddy needs to be an only pet but may be able to be placed with a bigger dog that he likes. He is a runner if he sees something to chase so he needs a home where they are very aware of this,  Buddy does not take a great picture and always looks much older than he is -- it's his coloring which is naturally gray on his face (has been forever)..........  The Budster NEEDS a home.  If interested in a fun, quirky, loving boy - this is the guy.  Please contact Buddy and Keeper Rescue at keeperrescue@gmail.com telling them a bit about yourself and where you live.  Paws crossed !

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Buddy, a Fort Hunter German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Fort Hunter, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Fort Hunter.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fort Hunter already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fort Hunter breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fort Hunter paves the way for another one to be saved.
