Meow! My name is Melody

The year 2005 was special for FFGW: it was our 10th anniversary year and, among many others, we rescued a young, terrified and very pregnant calico. Just hours after arriving in foster care, she delivered 4 beautiful kittens. Melody was adopted, along with one of her kittens, but sadly, through no fault of her own, Melody has come back to FFGW.

Melody is a stunningly pretty, dilute calico, with snow-white chest and paws, a classic calico “mask,” and a bright pink nose. Melody is extremely shy, BUT she will reward your patience with incredible love, which is all the more sweet for having been earned. After having spent some years in a bustling home with a small child, and another cat (daughter Josie) we think Melody would LOVE to have a quiet home. Indeed, based upon the instantaneous improvment in Melody's demeanor and interactions with her foster mom and foster siblings (an adult male resident cat and a foster kitten) when we recently moved daughter Josie to a new foster home, we are convinced that  Melody will blossom like a flowere in a home without other kitties, and with one special person that she can adore. She’s not currently a lap cat, although she will cuddle right up to you when you are sleeping, or sit next to you on the couch. We think, in time, with the right person, and no other cats with whom to compete, Melody will be the snuggliest thing ever (she did climb into her original parents' laps in her adoptive home--she will again!). Just feed her a steady diet of head scritches and patience, and she will soon be singing and dancing with excitement when you approach. (She has a melodic and beautiful meow and the most adorable, stubby, little legs - the dancing is particularly fetching!)

Like many cats who once fended for themselves, Melody has a tendency to be a little zaftig. (She gobbles up her food immediately, just like a dog.) Melody is petite, but round. She has lost some weight on a grain-free wet food diet in her foster home, which she should continue in order to keep that progress going. She currently needs a stool or a box to get her rotund little self up onto the bed, but we hope that she’ll soon be jumping to the window sill when she has slimmed down a bit more.

Melody is a gentle, sweet girl, who wants so desperately to be loved and to love in return. Can you be the one to earn this girl’s trust?  

(Happy news! Josie's move was goo for Josie, too! Shortly after arriving in her new foster home, she was adopted! We know that Melody's person is just around the corner--could it be you?!)
