Lucas's Info...
| Breed: | Basset Hound | Color: | Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White) | Age: | Senior |
| Size: | Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) | Sex: | Male | ID#: | 1898022 |
I am already neutered, purebred, and up to date with shots.
Lucas is quite active and would enjoy someone who will be active with him. He came to us as a senior boy, suspected of being about 11 or 12. We feel like he is about 7 or 8 at the most. Lucas has a gray face, but we believe it is premature graying, I for one, know how that is!
Lucas loves to play fetch(surprisingly, he brings toys back to you!) and go to the dog park, run through the woods catching all the new sniffs and meeting new friends. Lucas is such a loving Basset/Beagle mix hound. He has the best of both breeds for certain! Lucas loves to be rocked and also loves to sleep with you. He is a snuggler of the highest caliber. He came to us with no name, but is learning his name. Lucas would love a family of his own, so he can have his own spot in bed with his people. While I have not observed him around children, his personality is such that I believe he would do great with them.
Are you ready for a very loving hound of your own? Think about Lucas!
3/3/10 I added a picture that includes Blue, another of the Bounders! So the picture with 2 dogs has Lucas on the left and Blue on the right. :-)

Mission Statement
All too many times, dogs of advanced years are rejected by their owners, given up to a shelter or passed around when an owner is no longer able to care for them. Senior Houndsabound, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to the rescue and lifelong care of senior Bassets and Beagles abandoned by their families or left in shelters.
Senior Houndsabound wants to help when senior dogs are left in cages or ignored in a yard. No hound should be left to spend their golden years ignored or abandoned. More often than not, these hounds come to us in poor condition and helping them is challenging, costly, yet worth every bit of time, energy and funding. We will continue to do our very best to see that these forgotten and abandoned hounds’ final years are happy, peaceful, and that they feel safe.
Our ultimate goal is to know that on that day, when these senior hounds go to cross to the Rainbow Bridge, they will know that they were very much loved.
We mainly do private meet ups but do appear at some local adoption events in the Orlando and Tampa area.
Our adoption fee is usually $100 to 150, based on the age of the dog. We appreciate an initial call or e-mail expressing interest and then we require a phone interview and a home visit. Both of these usually occur within days of the initial contact. We require that our dogs are adopted to families that promise to keep them in doors for the remainder of their lives and to treat them kindly.
We serve the Orlando and Tampa areas and allow adoptions to anywhere in FL.
