Drake's Story...
Drake is an amazingly resilient dog. Though he spent some time living alone when his family broke up, he has adapted quickly and graciously to his foster home -- which he shares with one human, one gentle 60-pound dog, four cats with various attitudes, and a litter of month-old foster kittens!

He likes to take walks and greets both people and animals with friendliness. (A walk around the block makes him ready for a nap.) His foster mom was told that he "warms up slowly," but has found him to be an almost instant buddy for TV watching, yard lounging and general hanging around. Drake likes to be right with you but stays out from underfoot. He is kind and alert to young grandchildren.
It is hard to find anything negative to say about Drake. We were told he marks in the house, so in the house he wears a "belly band" (a sort of diaper belt) that has solved the issue. He willingly goes into his crate to sleep at night, and during the workday he happily shares a two-room area with the resident dog.

Drake is so appreciative of having a home, he wags almost constantly. I think he would be a great family member to any household who can respect his size.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Drake, a Avon Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Avon, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Avon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Avon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Avon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Avon paves the way for another one to be saved.
