Snickers's Story...
Maybe you have heard my story before? I’m Snickers and I am one of the lucky pooches rescued from the Lucerne CA hoarding situation….me and 150 of my canine pals came from a home where 1 person's love and desire to help doggies just got out of control. Now I have my chance a real life, a real family, and real love. As you can imagine, I am shy even a little more shy than my buddy Marshmallow but if you give me a few moments to warm up I might just sneak you a little lick on the hand. You know they named me Snickers for a reason… you can be sure that I am sweet as can be! I will need a patient and gentle family, with children who are old enough to understand how to treat me with love and respect. I won’t mind sharing my home with other dogs (I mean, you don’t have 150 of them, right?) and I am really eager to experience all the things this great big world has to offer! I am already crate trained, and am learning how to walk on leash but I just know there are so many more wonderful things I can learn. Starting with how to be a real family pet….5 years old-45lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; neuter, microchip, reduced cost training class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Snickers, a Portland Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Portland, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
