I’m a super-sweet and shy 3-4 month old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix of some sort. I was rescued by a really nice lady (who is also a board member for Pet Savers) from under a house on West Jordan Street in Shreveport. I was covered in fleas and ticks, very thin, and very scared. My rescuer took me in and is now trying to find me a loving home. I’ve been dewormed, my fleas and ticks are gone, and I’ve been vaccinated. I will probably be medium-sized when I grow all up. I’d make a super family dog. If you’d like to meet me, please call Pepper at 318-299-0967... (phone is not always working... so, please e-mail as well to There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to Pet Savers of $30 for their help in rehoming me and to help assure I go to a good home. Once you adopt me, PLEASE get me spayed/neutered to help control the HUGE overpopulation and euthanasia rate in this area. Robinson’s Rescue low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic (Shreveport) offers special low-cost pricing for spaying and neutering. Call 318-861-0101 for your spay/neuter appointment ONLY, not about me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Freckles, a Haughton Border Collie/Australian Shepherd puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd for sale in Haughton, or seeking a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd puppy from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Border Collie/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
