Peanut's Story...
This is our other resident Peanut. He is a beautiful Border Collie mix with gorgeous chocolate and black coloration. He has lived on a farm as a working dog all his life, he is only 9 months old. Being that he was always outdoors, he spooks very easily and needs to learn to build confidence. He had never been on a leash before, but is adjusting wonderfully. Peanut really likes people and has a very gentle sweet personality. We don't recommend her for an active household with children.

All dogs at our shelter have been started on a vaccination program, de-wormed, screened for heartworm and started on heartworm preventative, treated with Advantage for fleas, spayed/neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee for a dog is $140. If you are a PA resident, you will also be required to purchase a dog license. There are 2 licensing options : annual licenses are $6.50 and are renewable every January. Lifetime licenses are $31.50 and never need to be renewed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peanut, a Honesdale Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Honesdale, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Honesdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Honesdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Honesdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Honesdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
