Xena's Story...
Please contact info@blinddogrescue.com for more information about this pet.

Xena's Information:

Xena was rescued in Dec. from a shelter in New Jersey where she was a stray. She is estimated to be about 6 years old. She has probably not been blind her whole life and is slowly losing her vision. She plays well with our family dog and seems to get along well with the kids. She can be timid and shy due to her blindness. She does tend to be submissive with most people. She is very frightened of thunder storms and needs reassurance. I think she would be best suited in a home with someone who has a bit of free time to spend with her. She does not like spending long periods alone due to her fears and anxiety.

Sex: Female

Breed: Labrador Retriever/Shepherd Mix

Age: 6yrs old

Level of blindness: partially blind. Blindness is worse at night.

Cause of eye issues: Degenerative, PRA- progressive retinal atrophy.

Health issues: none, other then blindness.

Weight: 55lbs

Good with dogs: YES, with proper introduction

Good with cats: NO

Good with kids: YES

Currently being fostered in: North Carolina, but BDRA will arrange transport to an approved adopter

About Blind Dog Rescue Alliance - TN

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of volunteers spread throughout the United States (and even a couple in Canada) who are dedicated to advocating for blind and visually impaired dogs by rescuing dogs in shelters, helping blind dog owners, and educating the public. We formed in 2009, though our members have many years of experience in rescue, and in blind dogs.

We are always looking for volunteers; let us know if you want to help out! Volunteer@BlindDogRescue.com

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group, and all donations are tax deductible.

Our Adoption Process...

Interested in adopting a BDRA Dog? Simply fill out our application.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive.

We ask a $250 adoption fee. This does not begin to cover the vetwork we do on our dogs, which is why
we are always fundraising!

The Board of Directors has voted to prohibit the use of Invisible/Electronic fences on Blind Dog Rescue Alliance dogs. This policy will be effective immediately.

Please email info@blinddogrescue.com with any questions.
