My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hellloooo! My name is Kailyn, but it used to be Damsel. I’m the mother of the American Idol puppies and I guess the shelter thought I was a “damsel in distress” because I had my babies so soon. My foster mama thought that was a terrible way to think of me so she named me after a little girl she once knew with beautiful brown eyes like mine. I’ve been very busy taking care of my six hungry babies, but my personality is really starting to come out. Mom says I’m one of the sweetest girls she’s every met. I’m a bit timid and shy and a little afraid of men, but I’m starting to come around because my foster dad is being so patient with me. I also get nervous around loud noises, but I’m starting to learn that everything will be OK.

Mom isn’t sure that I’m all beagle because I’m a bit taller, but I have the beagle howl for sure, though I don’t use it often. I mostly howl if I find a really good smell when I’m out walking with Mom and Dad. I come when they call me, I’m potty trained and can go outside in a fenced in yard or on a leash, and I really love to be petted. Dad knew I was starting to come around when I nudged him with my nose to pet me. I love to walk on a leash and tend to pull a bit hard, so I’m going to need some help with that; I also need to work on learning some commands like sit and stay. I get along really well with my furry foster brothers and sister in the house. Mom says the only thing that makes me a little unusual is that she thinks I might have been kept outside a lot at my previous home because I like to dig a little bed under bushes and hide between spaces in the fence. I also tend to look for corners in the house in places that are out of the way. I was a digger when I first got to my foster home, but Mom watched me really closely and now that seems to have passed. I’m not sure how I feel about cats and there aren’t any children that live in this house, but my foster mama has been bringing kids over to play with my babies and I’ve done really well with them.

I’d love a home of my own with a family who will love me “furever!”
