Happy's Story...
Happy was named happy because....he is always happy! This sweet lab/husky mix is about 3 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. Happy has the coat (short fur) of a chocolate lab, but the markings - and curly tail - of the husky. He is great with kids, and is very gentle. He walks great on leash. He is extremelly friendly and lovable, and we think he is unusually handsome. Did we mention he is happy all the time? He did come into our kennel being heartworm positive, but is currently being treated. Big Canoe Animal Rescue will continue to pay for his entire treatment, and we expect him to be happier :-) and healthy soon. All of our dogs are adopted as indoor dogs, and we prefer homes with children over the age of 5, please.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Happy, a Big Canoe Labrador Retriever/Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Husky for sale in Big Canoe, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Husky dog from a breeder in Big Canoe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Big Canoe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Big Canoe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Husky breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Big Canoe paves the way for another one to be saved.
