Lenny's Story...
Hello! My name is Lenny. I am a "special needs" boy. If you love Dobies you will love me. I am a very handsome 2 + old male dobie mix. I am as sweet and gentle as I can be. I am very docile. I do have a bit of a problem though. I think my eyesight isn't very good but I can see. I have a tendency to walk in circles sometimes and I am also incontinent. I started having seizures and was put on phenobarbitol which has stopped them. This medication is very inexpensive thankfully. The vet thinks I possibly lived through distemper as a little puppy and it damaged my brain. Actually I am a very happy boy. I love playing with the other dogs here. ( Although sometimes some of the other dogs will pick on me because I am disabled and they sense that). That is one reason my foster parents would love a home for me where I could be the only or maybe with another dog who wouldn't be mean to me. I am walking better. I am also responding to my foster parents better too. When I first got here...I didn't seem to understand anything...but now I play, and like to be petted. I need someone who understands that I may always have a little bit of "goofiness" in me. It does not make me less of a loving boy though. It is more of a challenge for me to learn things since I don't understand things quite as well as "regular" dogs...but I know I will eventially. I am a "special furbaby"...that's all I can say. I am affectionate and sweet boy. I could make a wonderful companion for someone who would love me for who I am and had the patience to work with me.
I realize that me finding another home is very slim. If you would like to sponser me so that my foster parents can buy me the food, meds and diapers I wear that would be very nice of you. They will be caring for me the rest of my life, if I don't find another home...and they love me, but it does costs extra keeping me here with all the other foster dogs they have. Any help of a donation would be appreciated. I eat Pedigree dry adult dog food if you have any coupons you might find that you could mail to me.

About Our Rescue Group...
VFAW is a small rescue organization that helps homeless dogs who are in kill shelters and strays. We do not have an actual shelter. We have individual foster homes that we keep our rescued dogs in until they find their forever homes. Once a dog in foster care gets adopted, it makes room for another dog to be rescued. We do everything medically needed done for each dog. We have taken in dogs with heartworm (and had them treated by vet), blind dogs, 3 legged dogs, special needs dogs, and very adoptable dogs. We do not euthanize.
We have been rescuing for over 9 years and have successfully found wonderful loving homes for hundreds of dogs. We keep in contact with the new adopters to make sure things are going well. If there are any issues we work with them to try to make it better. We do ask that if for some reason an adopter cannot keep the dog that it is returned to VFAW.
We started this rescue because we are in a very rural area where people need to be educated on over population. There are too many stray dogs running around and we decided something had to be done to help them. We spay snd neuter all dogs before adopting. We give out dog training dvd's to the new adopters to give them pointers on how to make it work. We encourage our adopters to give us updates and also let us know if they are having any issues. We want the adoption to be a success. We take in any breed, mix, size etc. All dogs in need are all important to us.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lenny, a cedar grove Doberman Pinscher/Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Doberman Pinscher/Coonhound for sale in cedar grove, or seeking a Doberman Pinscher/Coonhound dog from a breeder in cedar grove.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in cedar grove already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a cedar grove breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Doberman Pinscher/Coonhound breeders who help with Doberman Pinscher/Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in cedar grove paves the way for another one to be saved.
