My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Mikey! Not only am I completely adorable, but I'm also sweet as can be. I am approximately 1 year old and I LOVE EVERYBODY! I love kitties, and dogs and all people :) I am very quiet, but I am a ball of energy. Everything is so darn interesting and I just wanna play all of the time. I get so excited to go for my walks and I really like toys. I'll need a family that will enjoy my being an active little guy and will take me places and play with me to keep me busy.
When I say little I ain’t lyin! I am a pint sized bully at around 38 lbs!
A few weeks ago I was dropped of at the Humane society as a stray. I was SUPER skinny (only 24 pounds!). I had red itchy skin, my face was crusty from not being cleaned, and my fur was stained yellow; probably from being kept in a crate and having to lay in my own waste. Because of my severe allergies, the nice people at the Humane society knew that the best chance for me to get the specialized care that I needed was to go with Love-A-Bull rescue.

The volunteers at Love-A-Bull took me right to the vet to get an allergy panel done. They didn't want to mess around! Well it's a good thing they did because, boy oh boy! I am allergic to all kinds of weird stuff! Now that my allergies are identified, I'm on some high quality food that doesn't make me feel icky. That, along with Benedryl twice per day, has got me feeling so much better already. I've also gained 14 pounds in only two weeks. I love food!!
Even though I had a rough start, you would never know it if you met me. I am the happiest little guy in the whole world! It looks like I'm smiling whenever someone talks to me. I'm super snuggly and all I want is to be right by my people all day :)
I am very young and 100% puppy. Therefore, prior to my adoption being complete, I will have to be signed up for beginner training at PETCO or Petsmart (no exceptions!). It will be totally worth it though. We will have to much fun taking training classes together! It will give us time to bond, I will get to learn a bunch of new things, and of course I'll get lots of treats :) I will also have to be on a limited ingredient diet for the rest of my life. It's not that hard though, I will come with a list of everything that I'm allergic to, as well as a list of food and treats that I am allowed to have. I promise, I'm worth the extra effort!

*WHY ARE SOME DOG’S ADOPTION FEES HIGHER THAN OTHERS?
The adoption donation fees are based on age, health and needed vet care of the dogs we have taken in. The younger, healthier dogs help to pay for their cousins that need a little more TLC. You adoption donation fee also covers the cost of the spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip of your new dog.
*CAN WE COME SEE YOUR DOGS?
All of our dogs are in foster homes around the Phoenix area. We require an application to be filled out, a home check to be done, and vet reference check to be complete before having you come meet the dog of your dreams! We will ONLY contact you when we have a potential match.
*I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL DOGS WHO I THINK WOULD FIT MY HOME, BUT THEY ARE NOW ADOPTED. WHY?
We take a lot of time to get to know our dogs in rescue. Some are barkers, which cannot go into condos or apartments, some require companionship of other dogs, and some are not good with children. Each dog is unique!
*IS THERE A WAITING LIST OF APPROVED APPLICANTS?
YES! That is why even if you are not ready to adopt, get your application into us if you want to be considered for a future adoption.
*I AM LOOKING FOR A PUPPY OR VERY YOUNG BULLDOG.
Well, you have come to the wrong place. Rescue dogs on average are between 3 and 7 years old, we do not get puppies into rescue. We would, however, be able to refer you to a reputable breeder.
*BULLDOGS ARE SO EXPENSIVE! WHY?
If you are looking for a cheap bulldog by choosing rescue, need not apply! Rescue dogs are dogs that are going to need ongoing vet care, and a lot of love and training from their new humans. We only adopt to homes that truly want to RESCUE a homeless bulldog. This is not the place to find a “cheaper” bulldog.
*I HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE, AND HAVE CALLED A FEW TIMES, WITH NO RESPONSE.
We will contact you when we believe we have a dog that is a match.
Please remember: Not only are bulldogs adorable and cute, they are also high-maintenance and expensive! ☺
