Quinoa's Story...
Hi There – aren’t I just the cutest little baby hound dog you have ever seen? My name is Quinoa (thanks to Lucy M.) and I am 11 weeks old. My mom is a Redbone Hound and my dad is a black German Shepherd, but as you can see, I take after my mom! My 2 brother’s and I were surrendered to Big Dogs and I am currently living with 4 other really big doggies whom I love to play with and even though I’m a lot smaller than them right now, I can hold my own!

My foster mom says I’m really smart as I’ve only been with her for one week, but I already know that if I don’t jump on her, I get lots of lovins’ and that when she says its time to get in my bed, I know right where to go and I get a treat!

I LOVE my belly rubbed and I like to cool off in the doggie pool on hot days. I’m already learning not to have accidents in the house or my crate. I love to cuddle just as much as I love to play!

8.25.11 Update
My foster mom says I’m doing really well with learning routines, but am eating her out of house and home! She says I’ve grown into all my wrinkles! I have to be careful though ‘cuz I like to steal the other doggies food and they don’t always like that!

I live with a kitty, but even though my foster mom tells me to leave her alone – I just cant help myself to pounce on her! My foster mom says the kitty is not my personal squeak toy, but I think other wise, so I’d be better not to go to a house with kitties.

And when I get it in my head that I need to go investigate something in the yard, I stop listening to my foster mom, so I will also need a fence at my forever home, just to keep me safe. After all, I am a hound dog, its what I do!

I absolutely love to play with all the other doggies, so I would love to have a friend to play with at my new home as well. I used to cry when I went into my kennel, but now that I know she will always come back for me, my foster mom says I am a very good and quiet pup when I am in my kennel, but I will let her know when I need to go outside!

I like to play with kids, but since I still get very excited to play and jump and chew, they should probably be big enough to remind me to stay down. Sometimes I forget!

When playtime is done I plop my head on my foster moms shoe, and wait for the belly rubs, oh how I love my belly rubs!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Quinoa, a Rochester/Buffalo Redbone Coonhound/German Shepherd Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Redbone Coonhound/German Shepherd Dog for sale in Rochester/Buffalo, or seeking a Redbone Coonhound/German Shepherd Dog puppy from a breeder in Rochester/Buffalo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rochester/Buffalo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rochester/Buffalo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Redbone Coonhound/German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with Redbone Coonhound/German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rochester/Buffalo paves the way for another one to be saved.
