My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Silver – 6 year old male shepherd mix. Silver has a very sad story – he was originally given away to a family in a parking lot when he was only 6 weeks old (too young to leave his mother). He was banned to the backyard and only occasionally was allowed to play with the family’s little boy. When he was about a year old he was taken to another parking lot to be given away again because he was getting to big. That is when we intervened as his next destination was a high kill shelter – which would have been immediate and certain death. It was immediately obvious that he had been terribly abused as he was petrified of all people and all things. We worked with him and he slowly started to trust women and is still leery of men although he is improving. He was adopted and remained with his new family for 4-years but when they lost their home he came back to us.

Silver is a wonderful playful guy who gets along with all dogs. He has actually helped his foster mom raise a few litters of rescued pups – he made a very patient and understanding daddy! He likes to go on walks especially if the area if familiar (new things still unnerve him until he knows they won’t hurt him). He loves attention and having his head scratched. He likes to please his people and works hard to do so as well as being a fast learner.

Silver is very shy and will do well in a home with another well adjusted dog to show him the ropes. He needs experienced, patient parents to love him forever.
