My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dr. Teeth's Information:

Dr. Teeth is a very sweet, easy-going little old man. He is unsteady in his walking most likely due to the arthritis in his hips and runs like a turtle. He is housebroken, very good with his potty issues. He eats well even without teeth, but needs soft food and he likes yogurt. He has some skin issues and loss of hair. Some of it seems to be improving with a short trim, twice weekly medicated baths and the use of Mederma cream on a scar on his hip. He allows his eyes to be cleaned gently and drops to be put in them when needed. He is not much on the idea of having his little feet messed with so a nail trim is about all he has gotten so far. He loves being near his person and likes to snuggle in the big bed. He is a gentle, loving old soul.

History:

Dr. Teeth was found by a young woman in her yard just acting lost and confused. She took him in, cleaned him up, took him to the vet, posted pictures, all the right things. His condition was really quite bad when he turned up except that he was well fed. He had mats on his back end that prevented him from walking easily and made it almost impossible for him to go to the bathroom. He was also dirty and matted all over and had really long nails. After about 4 days, the daughter of the man he belonged to saw one of the flyers and called about him. When his owner saw him all he said was "hello, Lewis". He also said that he thought he had probably gone off to die somewhere. The next thing the young woman knew about him was that someone from the vet's office where she had taken him called to see if they could release information on him. That was when Doris had pulled him from the Animal Control where he had been surrendered. The rest, as they say, is history. He has had all his rotten, abscessed teeth removed, and some other much needed care. He still needs some dental surgery to try to close up the oral-nasal fistulas where the canines were removed in order to lessen the chance of any infection. Because of his age and his condition to date, he still needs to have some blood work done and maybe some additional vaccinations. He says "thank you" to everyone who has helped him get to a place where he can be loved and nap as much as he wants!
