Jimmy's Info...

Jimmy's Story...
Breed: Some sort of mix breed, we believe he has lop in him because he has "airplane ears," though they are more "down" than his brother Size: About 7.5 lbs Color: black and white Approximate DOB:2007 Reason in rescue: Poor Jimmy. He was living with a man who developed Alzheimers. The man ended up not being able to take care of them properly, and had them free range in a room. They apparently were living in so much filth, they were making tunnels... The family of the man realized what was going on and took him in, and then called us to help with the boys. When they came to us, they were a mess, and understandably very scared. They also have never had any vet care and have severe upper respiratory infections, which we are treating. Personality:When Jimmy first got here, he was scared to death of humans and being handled. Over time, he has become a big cuddly mush. He is initially a little nervous with strangers, but with people he knows, he demands cuddles and pets! After he gets his meds, he will sit with you and push his head up against you waiting for you to give him his cuddles and kisses as a reward! They are both big sweet babies and we think with time in a normal home, they will be wonderful house bunnies. They are just waiting for their forever home to spoil them! And they are perfect with their litter box and very clean boys! Ideal Home: We would like these boys to go to a quiet, either adults only home or a home with older, calm children. Special Needs: Both Jimmy and Joe came to us very sick and had been sick for a while. We have had them on antibiotics for a while now, and while their URI issues are mostly under control, we believe they will always be "sniffly." It does not affect them in any way other than the occasional sneeze or snort and we do not think it will cause them any problems in the long run. We do not recommend they ever have contact with other rabbits and must go to a home with no other bunnies. Friends: Jimmy is living with his brother Joe, and they have never been separated, so we will be adopting them out together Requirements: Must be adopted as an indoor animal, with an as large as possible cage area or puppy pen. Adoption process: An adoption application must be filled out (email for the application), and approved by us. Then we will arrange a meeting time to see the animal of interest. A home visit is required prior to adoption. Suggested adoption donation is $75 for the pair which includes their neuters, microchips, and first vet visit. **Please email if you are interested in adoption. We respond to all emails within 24 hours** Recommended Food: Oxbow or Kaytee timothy pellets, timothy hay, and 2-3 servings of veggies a day, especially fresh greens like romaine, green leaf, dandelion, spring or baby mixes, etc. Bedding: Newspaper, Yesterday's News, Cellsorb, or Carefresh

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jimmy, a Edinburg Mini Lop was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mini Lop for sale in Edinburg, or seeking a Mini Lop from a breeder in Edinburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Edinburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Edinburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mini Lop breeders who help with Mini Lop rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Edinburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
