Quincy's Story...
Quincy was born in 2007 and is a little picky when it comes to his friends. He likes most other cats but will be annoyed by an overly playful cat. He is unafraid of our dogs. As the one picture shows, he does like his naps! He's not a lap cat, but can be very entertaining. Loves the aquarium and goes psycho with the laser toy. Hides when noisy kids come around. Also known as the 'Yeah eh eh!' cat in the YouTube video Fedzilla. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpwHwtzezH0

About Our Rescue Group...
Riley's Ark is named in honor of a beloved Staffordshire Bull Terrier who lived with us for 15 years before she succumbed to cancer. She loved and lived with all kinds of other animals. Rural southern Indiana is just starting animal control/protection programs and there is very little pet responsibility shown here. Spay/neuter ignorance is rampant. There is an attitude of dump and/or shoot unwanted pets. Cats are especially vulnerable to this attitude, thus we try to place as many as possible. All cats live underfoot with other cats and dogs. We have limited space in our home, so until one is adopted, we cannot take another one in.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not have facilities for visits unless arrangements are made by phone. Usually we do a home visit with a cat who has been predetermined as possibly appropriate for a particular home. Our cats are kept under foot, not in cages, so they tend to be better socialized than many shelter cats, and we do not euthanize healthy cats. We also use foster homes, so if you are interested in fostering a cat, please contact me about that. Please help us by donating by clicking the PayPal button at www.rileysark.petfinder.com Our kitties thank you.
Our Adoption Process...
There is an application form to be filled out, references checked and a home visit may be required. A cash or PayPal non-refundable donation helps to defray costs, since all pets have up-to-date vaccinations and are spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. Rates vary depending on what medical care was involved to get a cat ready for adoption. You will find that our rates are quite reasonable when compared to many rescues and shelters in the area. We will also work with you to make sure that your adoption gives you a forever companion. We have a two-week health guarantee that if your kitty gets sick within two weeks of your adopton date, if you bring the cat to me to see my vet, you will not have to pay for the kitty's care. After the two weeks, it is your responsibility to give veterinary care to your cat.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
I am willing to meet with a potential adopter who has passed the screening process as far as 50 miles from the metro Louisville, Kentucky area, which includes Harrison, Orange, Washington, Lawrence, Jackson, Crawford, Clark, Floyd and Dubois Counties in Indiana, as well as Oldham, Jefferson, Bullit, Meade and Shelby Counties in Kentucky. We have had clients travel here to adopt from as far as four hours one way. You will find our rates quite reasonable compared to many rescues and shelters and our pets are kept under foot, so they are well socialized. We do not euthanize healthy cats. We also use foster homes, so if you are interested in fostering a cat, please contact me about that. If you can't adopt, please help us by donating at www.rileysark.petfinder.com Our kitties thank you.
